Day Trip to Luzern, Switzerland...

In honour of SWISS player Roger Federer's 5th straight US Open Championship Win... I will take you back to 1992 and a stunning city...
My mother and I went to Europe... first stop was Paris... and Luzern (Lucerne), Switzerland was one of the cities we stayed over night on our way to Firenze (Florence) and Milano (Milan)... above is a brochure from our trip.
Here is Fifi near the famous bridge... soon after we left Luzern the "Chapel Bridge" was almost totally destroyed by fire... so glad I got to see the original... I heard that it was replicated... sorry. I have no research for this post... you can learn more about this GORGEOUS city HERE
Overview of Luzern
Along the river that flows into Lake Luzern
My mother in front of the "Lion Monument" carved into the rock

Beautiful street lamps
Reuss River in old part of Luzern, I believe... don't quote me.
Amazing architecture
More amazing architecture...

And even more amazing architecture...

BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL... and so clean! Loved Luzern... SHOPPING WAS FAB! Food wonderful! Our hotel room was pristine and all WHITE... sorry I don't have more pictures from Switzerland. We arrived early in the morning EXHAUSTED from being awake all night on a train... and I could not think anything but SLEEP! (And speaking of exhausted... in present day NOW... I'm just too tired to finish my Swiss painting... I will try to add one to this post around noon... kids back in school... more time to paint... but I was too busy watching tennis... playing a little painting hooky... lol... OK... here is my LATE AFTERNOON paintings of Luzern Switzerland... painted VIRTUALLY from the historical Grand Hotel National built in 1870... I did not stay here truly... but if I could return... I would love to stay in this magnificent suite... and since this is my post... I'm pretending I'm staying there... you can join me...
Looks like a lovely view outside... shall we go out on the terrace... enjoy the view... pop open that champagne and celebrate... "Cheer's to the 2008 U.S. Open tennis champion!"

I hope you enjoyed this little memory of mine and our new virtual stay... and CONGRATULATIONS ROGER! He is like Luzern... AMAZING!
