A Common Day in Boston... with a Little Paris...

Ooooh I have paintings to share... BUT...they are NOT of Boston... They are Postcards from Paris... Look one of my friends sent me one showing the Floating Restaurant where they dined...

Ooooh and another one from The Adventures of an American Mum who enjoyed lounging near la Tour Eiffel...

Ooooh and then there was this one from Jane T of AtticMag... Apparently She and Olivier had a lovely evening in Paris sharing a bottle of wine and a view of La Tour... ooh la la... Jane... call moi... must hear all the details!!!Such FUN receiving postcards of Paris while VIRTUALLY in Boston... and speaking of Boston... time to visit the Boston Common...

The Boston Common is a central public park in Boston. It is sometimes erroneously referred to as "Boston Commons". Dating from 1634, it is one of the oldest city parks in the United States. Boston Common is 50 acres (20 ha) of land bounded by Tremont Street, Park Street, Beacon Street, Charles Street, and Boylston Street. The Common is part of the Emerald Necklace of parks and parkways that extend from the Common south to Franklin Park in Roxbury. A visitors' center for all of Boston is on the Tremont Street side of the park. (via Wikipedia... read more here)

Ooooh and by the way... while we lived in Boston for a month we lived on Tremont near Stuart... so the Common was a COMMON place for us to spend time! And now let's walk over to the Park for the day... We'll start with the Public Gardens...
The Public Garden was established in 1837 when philanthropist Horace Gray[4] petitioned for the use of land as the first public botanical garden in the United States. (via Wikipedia)... Beautiful Gardens and pedal powered Swan Boats...
and of course one MUST ride on a Swan Boat...note the World's Smallest Suspension Bridge from my post on yesterday...and a closer view...and here are the FAMOUS swans flown in early summer to cruise around the Lagoon...Other well known feathered friends in the Public Garden are these "Make Way for Ducklings" by Robert McCloskey... and of course you MUST ride them too according to most small children...
isn't he ADORABLE with his umbrella (yes, there are different oufits on the boys... no they are not modeling clothes... I told you we visited the Common often)Now... off to the other side of Charles Street to my boys FAVORITE part of the Park... there they go running to a special location...
Stopping to look at various statues... (this one is no longer in this location... very interesting story... read more here)

Anddddddddddddddd... here we are... and there they go running through the Frog Pond...
Here are two of the reasons why it is called the Frog Pond...Kids in the City crowd the Pond during July and August... wading in the water and eating JUNK.. I mean food from the snack bar... yesssssssssss... mine loved it too...and soooo did their squirrel friend...Wellllll... I hope you enjoyed spending the day OUTDOORS with us... time to head home... pick up some fruit along the way... and flowers from our FAVORITE florist/fruit stand... we stopped by DAILY!
NOW off you go to visit other OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY participants via Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer!

Tomorrow I will be taking you to a Rooftop party in Boston and you will see some AMAZING views of the City... Cocktail Dresses will be appropriate... see you then... ENJOY!
