Art Exhibits in Paris

Another fab day in Paris... beautiful view... blue skies... blue bateau-mouches cruising the Seine (this painting is sold... however it is available in a print or as frameable notecards)...Sipping cafe creme... nibbling on a croissant... looking for art exhibits to see here in Paris... flipping through the latest Around Paris publication... who is that I see... Cup of Jo... while I drink one... apparently she will hitting the streets of Paris in a few days... I'm sure she has her every moment scheduled... but perhaps she will virtually ring me up and we can meet for a cafe creme... hmmm...Awwww... there is nothing like seeing a SPECIAL art exhibit in Paris... on my REAL trip to Paris I was fortunate enough to see a few of these exhibits... this was my favorite... The architecture of the Grand Palais is stunning...Entrance to the exhibit...
Some of my FAVORITE paintings of this exhibit...

Toulouse inspired me to paint these...
Both paintings are available in My Etsy Store

Fast Forward to the PRESENT Exhibit in the Grand Palais... and you get... The Great World of Andy Warhol...
March 18 - July 13 2009
Exhibition
Les Galeries nationales du Grand Palais In 1962, Andy Warhol painted portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, and revisited the Mona Lisa and Elvis Presley. From 1967 to 1987, he fulfilled commissions and using a process that he began to adopt systematically, produced the portraits of dozens of different personalities, celebrated or unknown, re-establishing the portrait genre, by introducing new codes. Warhol held up a mirror in which the social microcosm and the bigger world beyond could see themselves reflected. Two hundred and fifty works - selected from the thousand portraits executed since the early 1960s - are on show, illustrating the major themes that open the exhibition with a retrospective vision. The Galeries nationales du Grand Palais will be setting out to demonstrate the effect of the principle of repetition that was a central preoccupation of Warhol's work during this period. In so doing it presents the first major collection of paintings that form an unprecedented archive in the history of painting and photography. Exhibtion organised by the Réunion des musées nationaux in collaboration with the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. The exhibition is supported by LVMH / Moët Hennessy . Louis Vuitton Open daily, except Tuesdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.. Closed on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m.. Full price: 11 € - Reduced rate: 8 €

If you happen to be in Paris during the run of this exhibit and you love Warhol or not... it is always great to see SPECIAL exhibits... stroll over to the Grand Palais... you will NOT be disappointed!

There is a really great collection of Warhol's here in L.A. at the LACMA Broad. No need to go to Paris to see them. But, Paris is better than L.A. Oui?

Bonjour Fifi!
I love Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. How wonderful you were able to see that exhibit. Love what you've done with your inspiration from his works. I'm taking vacation this week, but really want to see what you and Rue come up with on Thursday. Maybe I'll check when we return and will take a vacation from the vacation by reading your delightful posts for the entire week (sounds like a plan :) à la fois prochaine, mon amie! xo~Tracie

I just loved this post (and always love seeing your work). But this I loved because I have seen Moulin Rouge about 50 times. I can see how Lautrec inspired you but your paintings seem to all have that sort of swirly~casual feeling to them! Does that sound strange?

Anyway, Happy Blue Monday Fifi!!
