Dirty Dancing in a PINK Dress...

Dirty Dancing is a 1987 romance film. Written by Eleanor Bergstein and directed by Emile Ardolino, the film features Jennifer Grey, Patrick Swayze, Cynthia Rhodes, and Jerry Orbach. The story details the moment of time that a teenaged girl crosses over into womanhood both physically and emotionally, through a relationship with a dance instructor during a family summer vacation. Around a third of the movie involves dancing scenes choreographed by Kenny Ortega , and the finale has been described as "the most goosebump-inducing dance scene in movie history". via Wikipedia**

My interview with Debbie of Reflections of Debbie...

First a reflection from Debbie...

Ever wonder why people love movies so much? I know I do. Perhaps it’s the happy endings or the impractical themes. Dirty Dancing has always been at the top of my list of movies to watch and in some odd way it reminds me of me and my life with my dearest husband.

NOW... on with the interview... Do you know any links to the movie?

What is your favorite scene?

The scene where Baby stood in front of Johnny with her arm up behind his head while he gently led his fingers down her arm. She got so tickled each time by that move and his irritation showed. It took many tries for her to nail that move on the dance floor.

What is your favorite song?

The Time Of My Life – Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes

What is your favorite outfit?

Her pretty pink dress - She’s positively gorgeous!

What is your favorite line?

"I'm scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I'm with you." – I know that line by heart.

Who are you in the movie?

I am Baby and my husband is Johnny. My husband and I met dancing and he truly swept me off my feet. Ever since we’ve been together he has never once put me in a corner.

Do you know where they filmed the movie?

Mountain Lake Resort in Pembroke, Virginia. (Visit the movie location here)
Dancer's Cabins...
Any thing else you think is important!

I took the following information from wiki...
Filming started on September 5, 1986.
There were delays in the schedule that pushed the filming into autumn. The set director’s spray painted the autumn leaves green to keep in line with the summer event.
The shooting wrapped on October 27, 1986.
It was the number 1 video rental of 1988 - and I contributed to the cause
It was the first film to sell a million copies on video. – I don’t have the video
When the film was re-released in 1997, ten years after its original release, Swayze received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Videos were still selling at the rate of over 40,000 per month. As of 2005.
It was selling a million DVDs per year, with over 10 million copies sold as of 2007. – I’ve got my copy of the DVD thanks to my sweetheart.
The film's popularity has also caused it to be called "the Star Wars” for girls.

great insiders view of a fantastic movie...Johnny Castle always breaks my heart by his feelings that he's not good enough. No wonder Baby fell so hard.

Great movie!! Favorite scene had to be when he raises her up in the air in the finale.

Did you know Jennifer Gray had her nose re-done? When I saw her I didn't even recognize her. I liked her old nose.

I love this move. I remember when it first opened. No one really knew that it would be such a bit hit. My three kids that I took with me to see it where a bit to young for the show, what was I thinking? They survived and I love the movie.

Hello Fifi. I love this post. It brought back memories. I was in Middle School at the time and I remember going to the movie theater to see this several times. My favorite line is, "Nobody puts baby in the corner." I also went to Mount Holyoke College two years, which is where Baby was going to school in the fall! And I must say I loved Patrick Swayze in this movie!

Thank you for a very enjoyable PINK Saturday. I think this is one of my top five favorite Pink Saturdays so far! pink hugs, Ellen

p.s. I watched the Librarian last week. Actually I watched the marathon. Which was great because I didn't know there was a second one. I thought of you and your artwork!

That is one of my favorite movies too! I've watched it more times than any other movie! One of my daughter's friend's mom came over once and said "Every time I come here you are watching that movie" It was a little embarrassing! If it's on tv, I have to watch it!

Oh yes! This is definitely on my favorite movie list. I can't even begin to guess how many times I have watched it, and I never tire of one second.

Happy Pink Saturday.

Oooooooo Fifi! You did my favorite movie proud! WOW what a gorgeous painting!

Another line that makes me laugh is when Baby repeats "I carried a watermelon"? Funny!

I really wish I could curl up and watch it this min.

Oh my gosh. I loved that movie. I had the soundtrack and my daughter who is almost 25 now and I danced to it together all the time. When she got married she had the d.j. play "i've had the time of my life" for the very last dance and danced with me! What a wonderful tribute to her mommy!

Dirty Dancing was certainly a favorite of mine. The two soundtracks that came out of the movie never go out of style - just some of the best music out there.

"Nobody puts baby in a corner." I have seen this movie more times than I should even admit to! My brother got me a keychain last Christmas that says lines from the movie (naturally, the "baby" line is one of them. :-)

You have written a wonderful tribute to one of my favorite movies also. I have the movie and the sound track which I enjoy very often.

I am a dancer in my heart and always will be. I rarely watch a movie twice but this one I can watch and watch and watch. My fave line is "nobody puts Baby in a corner". My favorite scene is the end when everyone is dancing to a good beat. Remember on the Dick Clark dance show when the kids would rate songs by the "beat". I still do that. A song has to have a good dance beat for me to love it. None of that coffee house music for me. lol....sorry didn't mean to ramble. Have a great day and Happy Belated Pink Saturday.
