Thursday Fruit Plate

Wow! I would LOVE to have this fruit plate… looks delicious… ohhhh and cheese with honey… only thing missing is a cocktail or mocktail… or wine…

The paint process… mostly watercolors today…

Inspiration photo…

I wish I was painting this because it was on my table… sadly, I only have dried mango and some caramel coffee almonds for snacks and iced coffee… paint time over… back to finishing my romcom book… only three chapters to complete… so excited!!!

Champagne Garden Party

I wish to be sipping bubbly at a champagne garden party… maybe nibbling delicious hand-passed appetizers too…

I had to film this process… I did something I don’t usually do… I painted the background without sketching it first… pretty BRAVE to film it…

Not exactly the same architecture in the background as the original photo below… but I didn’t leave enough room so I made my own building… chateau…

GOOD NEWS… I am feeling better and READY to party… we’re halfway to the weekend… hello Wednesday…

Sketchbook Messy

It’s a sketchbook… it should have sketchy elements… correct??? When I sketch, it’s not pretty… it’s scribbly… lines over lines… items sketch over other items… it’s about placement… it’s about fitting key objects within the drawing… very a perfect, clean drawing… pencil… ink outline… erase… or not to erase… that is the question when creating in my sketchbook… lately, I have not erased much and I’ve allowed mistakes to remain… it’s my sketchbook… it’s my learning book… it’s for fun… leave it in, I say… let the process show through lighter paint or pencil…

Today’s sketch is extremely messy… you can click on the photos to see them larger…

PAINTED… you don’t see a lot of the before messiness… I used watercolor pencils for most of this painting… I don’t think I really like the set I purchased or maybe I don’t like this media… although they are easy to use when not in my art studio…

This is the original photo prompt…

Back to another sketch from the other day… lots of lines and there will probably be more… I haven’t figure out my background or tabletop pattern… sorry about the lighting… photographing while in bed is not ideal for quality… lol

This last one was erased and it was messy… especially that little wooden thingy for honey… I struggled with the size and then the angled and the honey pot jar is still wonky… lol… I never claim to be logical in my drawing skills or perspective… just draw… just colorize: paint, pencil, whatever… fun fun fun or forget it…

I am about halfway through my original MOCA sketchbook… might have to film me flipping the pages… a peek into my colorful world of learning… of experimenting… of hopefully improving…

Sooooo… expect more messy sketches… it’s a SKETCHbook!

Three in One Mashup

I mashed together three art challenges from one of my art challenge groups…

Today’s challenge… lemons and architecture…

Last week’s challenge…

A couple week’s prior to last week…

Lemons… cake… daisies… I made them work on my table… on my wallpaper and outside my French doors… FUN to collect photos and put them together to make a whole new composition… the Fifi way… rebellious artist!

Hot Pink Flowers Black and White Mug

A new sketchbook entry…

This is the art challenge prompt…

You can see I reversed the wall and table patterns… and here is the process…

I LOVE filming… kind of feels like I’m doing another thing I went to school for… I’m what doing production design or filming a feature film but I paint scenes and I film the process… laugh out loud… yes, I went to film school but I did not finish…

Do what you like to do… be creative… be happy! Make others happy too!
I hope I bring a smile to your face!

Sunday Art Studio

I painted my sketch and I looked at my art studio for inspiration…

My art studio… don’t look at the mess… giggles wildly!!!

Photo inspiration…

Here is the painting process…

I film right on the black mat on my desk… I have bendable tripod attached to my desk and when needed a ring light to light the space… fun! I LOVE my little art studio loft…  it’s where I make art and write books most of the time…

Be creative! Have FUN!

Sketching Day

No painting… just sketching…

Next step is figuring out what colors to use… I often look at my older paintings…

Anddddd famous paintings… these are by Henri Matisse…

Tomorrow I paint… see you then!

Floral Chair Red Lampshades

Love a floral pattern and wall sconces… these with RED shades are FAB!

This is the art challenge photo prompt…

You can see the items that caught my attention because I focused on them rather than doing an exact copy of the photo… I’m not sure I like my sketchbook creation BUT I adore my chair pattern and will use it in the future…

Always experimenting, trying different things and learning!

Latte Macaron Café

Perfect art challenge for my sketchbook… a latte needed pastry… macarons… so I scribbled them on the page next door… happy cafe table…

Here you go… watch me create…

You can see for yourself… the latte looks lonely in this photo prompt…

Now! Time to drink coffee and work on completely my contemporary romance/romcom-ish book in progress… I’ll be back with another painting tomorrow… have a good day!

Last Day of 20 minutes: Red Scooter Flower Pots

I made it through 20 days of 20 minute artwork… some days I only got so far in 20 minutes… some days I finished: like yesterday and today; both quickly completed with mainly watercolor and today with mainly colored pencil… the BEST thing I learned was to PLAN… decide your colors and have them laid out and if you want to finish within the time limit—simple composition!

I have been sketching scooters forever so I knew I could get it done quickly and the background is simple…

Here is the inspiration photo… I rarely recreate photos exactly… I like to do my own thing

Day 20 of 20… art challenge completed!

9.19.2023

Rose Bud Vase Lemons

20 minute art challenge is nearing the end… I found a simple composition for today and finished with some time to spare, actually… It could have more detail but I’m happy with my artwork…

This the inspiration for my painting…

Day 19 of 20 completed!
Only one more day to go… what will I paint???

9.18.2023

Reading Garden Daybed

LOVED the idea of reading in this setting I saw online… it was too much to complete for my 20 minute challenge but I could sketch it in 20 minutes… then it was time to paint in my (MOCA) sketchbook…

And the sketch…

The inspiration that had me wanting to recreate in my art challenge composition…

FUN interior design from Sister Parish Design AND now day 18 is completed!

Harvesting Grapes…Wine

Grapes… Vineyards… I have written about two fictitious vineyards and their wines in my books… I made them up: Pinard Vineyard in the South of France and Beauclaire Vineyard in Temecula… I use the wines in all of my books when I mention wine… and for another art challenge, I sketched and colored grape vines with all colored pencil (ink and pencil when I first sketched it out) that may be growing at either of my made-up wineries…

Looking at the sketch and watercolor painting on the opposite page… I kept thinking there should be red wine in that bottle…

Soooo with two different shades of colored pencil, I did it… turned sparkling water into wine…

FUN FUN FUN…
Day 17 of 20 completed and day 16 transformed!

9.16.2023

Blue Sketchbook on Table

I made it! A little late but within the day… under the midnight wire… lol… another 20 minute art challenge… it is kind of funky… maybe not logical… bad perspective… it was a doodle: striped bowl with oranges… ohhh… maybe a glass bottle but not much room… blue sketchbook… colored pencil… pattern on the table… doodles don’t always have to make sense…

It was important to finish the challenge… Day 16 of 20 complete!

9.13.2023

Ooh la la Little Black Dress Fashion Studio

I’m reading a book that is one little black dress worn by nine different people (not the same dress but the same design)… anyway, the book mentioned a movie Sabrina 1954—that I LOVE LOVE LOVE—and who doesn’t love icon Audrey Hepburn… sooooo, inspiration kicked in and welllll… I had to create a Paris studio for the “little black dress” and though it was originally designed by the FABULOUS California Girl costume designer Edith Head… Audrey Hepburn went to Paris to meet with Givenchy about a collaboration for the Sabrina film… I don’t know all of the details but maybe Edith would love a Paris fashion studio like ME…

I’m using this, also, for my 20 minutes for 20 days art challenge too… so this is how far I got in 20 minutes…

Andddddd of course I have to share the inspiration behind my composition…

PLUS… I will share the book I am reading…

13 of 20 days completed!
