Reading Garden Daybed

LOVED the idea of reading in this setting I saw online… it was too much to complete for my 20 minute challenge but I could sketch it in 20 minutes… then it was time to paint in my (MOCA) sketchbook…

And the sketch…

The inspiration that had me wanting to recreate in my art challenge composition…

FUN interior design from Sister Parish Design AND now day 18 is completed!

Sketchbook: 20 Minute Butterfly Wing

My hubby found a beautiful butterfly wing in our garden and I photographed both sides of it… perfect 20 minute challenge… happy how they turned out but I should have maybe traced the outline of the wings so they would match perfectly BUT I think I did okay…

Here is the wing… both sides… sooooo pretty… nature is AMAZING!!!

Day 14 of 20 complete!

Sketchbook: Flowers and More

Filling and editing pages… I just can’t allow pages to be blank… they just look to sad… my art is all about being happy… being whimsical… FUN…

and the before… artwork bleeding through the page before and pink smudges of flowers from the right page… the chair didn’t have background color…

the sketchbook has thin paper—not meant for wet media—but I like to break rules…

this before sketch, again, shows the outline of artwork on the page before and I potted the flowers (may give them a blue sky tomorrow… and the color wasn’t as vibrant on the bistro/Arc de Triomphe scene…

I had fun experimenting with watercolor pencils… first time using them this week… only had four, so I bought a set and they arrive tomorrow… EXCITED to try them… I worked with all four in this sketch…

this before was not easy to cover up but I did my best… you can see a lot of the Paris scene through the page so I did bolder color… and the flowers were not planted nor had a sky—now they do!

ONLY one more page is blank opposite a drawing… I will conquer it tomorrow and share… then onward with new entries!

NO PAINT! ONLY COLORED PENCILS and INK (black and some white)… I’m really liking colored pencils… I want to try WATERCOLOR COLORED PENCILS next… need to purchase some… for now I’m having FUN with standard ones…

And here is the photo prompt for the art challenge…

Oops! I see that I didn’t string FUN party lights… I didn’t notice them until now… may add them later… or not… I’m happy with my artwork… that’s all that matters!

Coffee waiting for the Birds

I have NOT filmed my painting process since June… I was VERY overdue… so here is the final result followed by a video…

LOVED painting this… part of this artwork features windows looking out into my secret garden with birdbaths and birdfeeders filled and ready for the swarm of adorable birds that visit daily. The part of this painting was inspired by this photo (but you can see I veered off with colors and patterns)…

An art challenge called for YELLOW objects… my oldest son’s girlfriend had just sent me photos and a video of a caterpillar on Blackeyed Susan flowers in my garden the other day… PERFECT for my sketchbook double page painting…

The one of the original photos and the video… gorgeous camera work…

Coneflowers in the Garden

I love Echinacea or Coneflowers as many people call them… I actually have several colors but mostly the most common pink/lavender shade… This week a plant paint challenge shared a photo to be painted and I couldn’t help but snap photos of mine and add an element of my flowers and garden path to the painting…

Here is the photo challenge prompt…

Here are photos of echinacea in my garden…

I’m thinking I might start painting more of my garden-life…
I LOVE my garden… it’s AMAZING!!!
