Outdoor Flower Series Week 3

From my jardin to YOU... aren't these just ADORABLE...

Continuing my Outdoor Flower Series inspired by the book "The Meaning of Flowers" by Gretchen Scoble & Ann Field... today's flower is Narcissus (some people call them paper whites)... "In the West... they suggest EGOTISM.  This meaning... arises from a myth, that a young man whose vanity led to destruction of the nymph who loved him.  The flowers often stands sadly by a pool, nodding at its own reflection.  To the Chinese, the narcissus is the sacred lily, symbol of purity and promise."

Hope you ENJOY this little tidbit... now please be sure to visit other Outdoor Wednesday postings via A Southern Daydreamer!  See you tomorrow... I'll have some table whipped up for us to sit and chat!!!

Calling by from Italy via Outdoor Wednesday to visit another participant. In our garden the Narcissus have been in bloom since before Christmas and are still looking lovely. Interesting to learn the meaning behind the flower.
