Continuing my Outdoor Flower Series inspired by the book
"The Meaning of Flowers" by Gretchen Scoble and Ann Field... This week's flower.... or I should say FLOWERS... Lady Banks Roses (Rosa Banksiae)... named after Lady Banks, the wife of the eminent botanist
Sir Joseph Banks. All Lady Banks' roses are said to smell of violets to varying degrees. I don't think mine smell like anything.

Beautiful blooms, Fifi. How I love roses. I can hardly wait until mine are blooming again. There is hope - little shoots are popping out on the canes.
My neighbor has these in her back yard and they are so awesome when blooming. I am surprised they even grow up here.
I would never have guessed they were Roses. They are beautiful.
What pretty petals on those roses! Interesting that you say yours don't smell though. Maybe if the sunshine ever comes out - you sould retry smelling them again, i think rays of the sun make a difference on how fragrant my roses are! xoxo

Beautiful flowers, I've never seen anything like them. But then again, never been to California (yet). You are killing me with those photos. We still have snow and more to come tomorrow... Spring, where are you?

Happy Sunday to you.... it's so nice to be back...
