Bird of Paradise... I photographed this in my neighbor's garden... you can see it is just starting to bloom...
According to the book "The Meaning of Flowers" by Gretchen Scoble & Ann Field... Bird of Paradise also known as Strelitzia Reginae... and in Asia it is known as "the crane lily for its shape, which resembles a folded paper crane." The flower is native to South Africa... "suggests that something STRANGE and WONDERFUL is about to occur." For moi... it inspires PAINTING... that are turned into an invitation design...

What a stunning bloom, your artwork is wonderful too.
Living in AL, I don't see Birds of Paradise flowers unless I'm at a florist! That's why when I visited my sister in Hawaii last summer, I took a gazillion pictures of the flowers. Especially the ones that were right outside the house we were renting. Your paintings of these flowers are beautiful!
Very pretty design.
The bird of paradise is a good flower to use as an invitation, birthday card, sympathy card, etc. Nice idea! Go for it!

Yes it is an extremely exotic flower and takes you away to dream and think what you may.
