andddddd our friend AGREED... and when we ask if he would like to help us with this project he said yessss.... our lack of a mantle had bothered him too... LOL... our friend can build ANYTHING and we were DELIGHTED he would help...
at the end of the day... though still in need of staining... Fifi had to have a fire...
weekend two of this mantle project... the stinking job of staining... once again the BLUE tape goes up...
and the BLUE tarp goes down... and the colour begins...
close up of the colour... a similar stain to match the doors and other built-in furniture in my home...
and the BLUE tape comes off...
next on the project... Fifi will step in the paint faux harlequin tile... a seal will be put of the mantle... oooh forgot to snap a photo of the mirror that will go over the fireplace... it is the same one as seen above... however it has been painted in another shade... come back next Monday for the completion of the project... but for NOW go visit other Blue Monday and Metamorphosis Monday postings... and I will see you tomorrow... let's have a FAB week!

What a talented friend Fifi has!
Happy Blue Monday!
Yea! I am so happy you got a mantle, Fifi, and it's so pretty. He really did do a good job, and that's a good friend to help you out that way. Can't wait to see the tiles you paint.
XO,
Sheila :-)
Beautiful Fifi! I can't wait to see your painted tile!

That looks super. Glad you had a talented friend.
It looks like your project is going to be a winner. Love the green walls, too.
ohhh, that looks fabulously wonderful :)
That stain color is excellent against your wall color. Great choice! Here's my blog on kitchen design ideas: http://www.kitchenimproved.com/
