Oooh Fifi I agree Woman with Book is fab; I regret I have visited Picasso all over the globe but not in my backyard! I will go see it soon tho I know the work. This speaks volumes that you as a Matisse lover would rank a Picasso so high, but you have ab fab exquis taste in art....you are the BEST!!

Love the Norton Simon. Free Friday, first Friday of the month, after 6 pm. I too live in Pasadena. Think I'll go visit Mr. Simon on Friday sauce. The Picasso you go on about I use as an avatar in some blogspaces.

Picasso was an interesting character to say the least. His death in 1973 left a void in the modern art world. Strangely enough, he was able to paint stunning portraits and still life painting. I have always been attracted to Picasso as a person and an artist.
Thank you for sharing this piece.
