Fashionable Lunch with Ma Mère

Yesterday I had a FABULOUS time having lunch with my mother... we dined at the Parkway Grill... one of our favorite places to eat in Pasadena, home of the Rose Parade... look at the GORGEOUS flowers as you
walk up to the entrance...
inside the ambiance is lovely...

and the cocktails are shaken just right to start to our dining experience...
first a starter... special for the day... oysters on the half shell...
sorry about this next photo... I was sooo excited to nibble my salad... I did not snap this photo until after a few bites... also let me tell you that ma mère and I split everything... so these portions are half of the normal size... this is their bibb lettuce, burrata cheese, sherry-shallot vinaigrette salad...
our main course...Pan-Roasted Salmon French Green Beans, Bacon, Mushroom Ragout, Red Wine Reduction with a lovely glass of Chardonnay...
between our main course and dessert... I asked our FABULOUS waiter Sam if he would take my camera into the kitchen and snap a photo of food being plated... he said he would take me into the kitchen to snap a photo... sooooo... here is one of their gourmet pizzas being put into the wood-burning oven... looked yummy...
and the preparation of their heirloom tomato caprese salad, prosciutto with balsamic glaze...
almost too pretty to eat, non?
Nowwww... back to dessert... Crème Brûlée Napoleon Crisp Phyllo Squares Layered With Vanilla Bean Custard and Caramel Sauce...
Everything was DIVINE... food, drink and the service was WONDERFUL... I would recommend Parkway Grill to EVERYONE!!!  I have been there on many occasions and it has ALWAYS been PERFECT... I leave completely satisfied with a smile on my face!!!  Thank you to everyone for being so kind and receptive to my photo snapping!

Oooooh and be sure to come back and visit me on Monday and I will tell you about the Pasadena Showcase House that I visited before having that FABULOUS lunch... the show ends Sunday, and I don't want to give anything away to those who have not seen it yet.

Bon week-end...

Oh Fifi,
That looks wonderful and definitely my kind of restaurant. It's just a little too far away for me to get to, unfortunately !!!!
It sounded the perfect day for you and your mum. XXXX

I moved from Pasadena to Virginia 22 years ago - how fun to be taken back. We were actually in the Rose Parade Jan 2006 (president's family). I can't wait to see the Showcase House. The house tour in my little VA town isn't quite the same :-)

Those flowers are beautiful...but not so much as that salad, I could live on salads! It is always fun to have lunch with our mother, isn't it? Wish I lived closer to mine.

This place looks wonderful. My ex & his "new" wife of almost 20 years live in Pasadena, I'll send your post to them. The flowers in the restaurant are splendid. For me, the ambiance is so much more important than the food, but you knew that already, didn't you? LOL

What a fab place to go with your Mom. I went to one of those Pasadina showcase homes a few years ago. It was so much fun seeing all the work of different designers. I look forward to Monday.

Beautiful pictures, Fifi! The food looks delicious, and the flowers are a riot of color. The best part is that you enjoyed this with your mother... that makes it all so memorable. Whether you are painting or snapping photos, your eye always goes to the beautiful.
