From City Girl to Country Girl...

I arrived VIRTUALLY in the Provence region of France on Friday afternoon. I have always want to visit this area since reading all of Peter Mayle's books... so I decided to board a train heading south... I know you probably all thought I was driving down in that great blue sports car... but noooo... that was just my ride to the train station... much better than a taxi... anyway... the train ride down was nice and the weather when I pulled into the station was lovely warm with a bit of rain... I went to rent a car to drive around... but then I saw this car... it was screaming take me and it had keys in it... sooooooo... here I drive in this FAB PINK sportscar...Driving around from village to village looking at this glorious part of the country...

I was scouting cafes to paint... and admiring architecture... I have snapped some fab photos (via The Most Beautiful Country Towns of Provence)

After a long day I settled in for the night in this very welcoming Bed and Breakfast (via Victoria magazine September 2001) with BLUE decor... On Saturday I met the lovely Vicki Archer, author of My French Life... I pick her up in my PINK car and we pop over for lunch and laughs at Bistro d' Eygalieres (photos via Victoria magazine September 2002) eating some yummy food and drinking great wine for VIRTUALLY hours... Vicki was a delight... you must visitor her blog and get to know her...

She told me about The Palais des Papes a historical palace in Avignon, southern France, one of the largest and most important medieval Gothic buildings in Europe. It sounded like a must see... sooooo Sunday I visited this beautiful palace... Look at the amazing paintings... to see them up close... visit HERE

After our tour we enjoyed a FAB Easter brunch with some adorable ducks... I do hope everyone had a lovely Easter...

andddddd I hope you ENJOYED my Monday Metamorphosis... From exciting city life to country life... with touches of BLUE too... You can see more Metamorphosis Monday posts over at Susan's and Blue Monday posts at Smiling Sal's !!!

Superb Fifi, from the stolen pink sports car to the majestic palaces to the easter brunch with the ducks and what an exciting week to look forward to, Kathy.

I am giving away a copy of Bouchon cookbook if you don't already have one pop by and enter.

What a fantastic tour through Provence! I am also a great fan of Peter Mayle but have never been to Provence - it is on my wish list. I have had several trips to Paris - another one coming up in June. It was a treat to find your blog today through Smiling Sal's Blue Monday.

What a Fab weekend. The Bed and Breafast sounded wonderful. I have always wanted to see the South Of France, after reading about the Impressionists who painted there because of the light. A delightful virtual visit. Love the paintings.

Oh Darling Fifiness! What a weekend! How chic of you to be wearing your driving gloves in your stolen pink cars! I do hope the authorities are not on to you! Oh, disaster! Our Fifiness in jail! Now there's a little picture to paint!
Hope you have a wonderful Easter! Keep the magic coming! ;)

Oh my! Fifi...what is the fine for pink car thievery in France??? will I have to mortgage my castle should you get caught? Or do you still know that fine young Inspector? Will he get you off should you not be able to avoid being detected?!

You really must be careful...it is not so inspiring to paint from jail! Please DO be careful!

You have created yet another wonderful adventure for us to enjoy...merci!

Provence is one of my favorite regions of France - I loved Avignon. I grew up on the Florida Gulf Coast so always have to check out the beach wherever I visit. I only made it to Stes Maries de la Mer, but what a great little town!

You get around! I went from City Gay Boy to Country Gay Boy when I ended up settling with my partner in rural New Zealand. We've lived in Chicago and Tokyo and now we live in paradise. I blog about it on 'Moon Over Martinborough' here: http://martinborough.wordpress.com/
