Romantic Old World Charm Reveal...

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of giving a TOTAL STRANGER the ultimate Valentines Day present... Some of you will remember a few weeks back I told you I was beginning work on my "Delighting Others via Design" project for a deserving person... I showed you some purchases for the bedroom and the transformation of furniture... well... here they are in the room...the armoire...the lamps... drapery... accessories... and of course the handpainted nightstands by moi... the mouldings and chandelier...
the handpainted headboard by moi... new bedding... mirror... wood panels...
The room before and my drawing for the new room design...The two project was installed on Valentines Day. I arrived with my hubby and a helper to the home around 10:30am... we sent the owner away on an outing and we set to work... transforming a completely empty room. Around 3:30 I lead the owner into the new room with her eyes closed and told her to open them... She was totally overwhelmed... watching her gasp in awe and cry... my own eyes filled with tears too.

I would have to say this was the most meaningful Valentines Day my hubby and I have ever spent together... it is TRUE... it is sooooo much better to give than to receive!

ENJOY your Metamorphosis Monday and visit the other participants to see Before and Afters.

Fifi, the room looks wonderful - I understand completely why she was overwhelmed. I am looking forward to seeing which Venice photo you 'steal' and what transpires - just love the way you can do that, xv.

I love your painted pieces. They look so professional. OH DUH..you ARE a professional. :))
That was the sweetest thing to do for some one.
BTW, Decorating Cents on HGTV was my favorite show. They took five hundred dollars and did wonders with rooms. To bad it has been canceled. Thanks for sharing this with us.

What a wonderful Valentines Day gift!! You really outdid yourself -- not only is the room lovely, but it's such a nice added touch that you painted some of the pieces yourself.

I'm so glad you liked my Fireplace re-design :-)

I can see that my blog-partner Kelly has already been by to commend you on this fantastic room makeover... now it's my turn. Great job! And such a romantic room!!

How did you get involved in this project? Did you have consults with the home owner to find out what she liked? I suppose I should read further into your blog to find out! Ha!! It must have been so thrilling to pull this room together for a complete stranger, especially given her obviously happy reaction!!

Cheers,

So beautiful and soothing, I can understand why the homeowner was overwhelmed. What a wonderful gift for her and for you and your husband. And what a great lesson for your kids on the gifts of beauty and giving, how we can take our talents and use them not only to prosper personally but to give to others. This post is better than one of those before & after shows on HGTV!
