My Sunday Paint Project...

I have been wanting to do SOMETHING to this firebox area for a long time... so yesterday... I pulled out the paint cans, paint brushes and drop cloth... Drawing tools...
Laid out my pattern...
And began painting... first black...

Then white...
And voila... by evening... a NEW look!
I will be doing some touch up here and there in the sunlight this week or painting over it... not sure if I like it or not... it has been white for so long... what do you think? I will definitely be keep the inside of the box black and adding mirror to the back of the firebox... to reflect candles! The firebox was never a fireplace... but it was used with a radiator at one time... I wish I had a photo of it originally (home built 1930).
Welllllllllllll... speaking of PAINTING... I have two winners of my giveaway to announce... drum roll please...
Winner #1... Rhoda of Southern Hospitality...
Winner #2... Linda of Lime in the Coconut...

I hope my pictures still qualify for the above...Perhaps you could choose anyone you like best...TQ.

The last week end was wedding invitation project time and certainly breaking the rules in eating, so to say! I did not take any soup... it was in fact beryani rice, mutton curry, spicy pickels, beef rendang and chicken in red sauce...

I am looking for trouble...I kkkknow that too... but the menu served were unresisting... They were all cooked in Malay traditional way and using OIL of course...mmmmmm.

I love your revamped firebox Fifi, don't change it! MOTH & I spent 6 hrs. on Sunday putting together a new flash BBQ we bought for the patio. Our old one has given tremendous service for 10 yrs., & is going to 'live' with sons 4 & 5 at their share house. We figure it might encourage them to leave the local Pizza place in peace for at least one night!
However, all did not go smoothly, the thing must have come in at least 50 separate pieces & poor MOTH was mighty displeased. Would have liked to do a post on it, but I reckon if I'd pointed the camera his way in the midst of his cussing & cursing, I would be meeting him @ the Divorce lawyers office this morning!

Fifi, I'm SO excited!! I've been hoping to win one of your drawings for a long time & now I did!! Can't wait to see what you do with my laundryroom photo. I thought that would be a good one for you do to with all the color in there.

AND, I really LOVE your fireplace painted with the black/white harlequins. I'm very drawn that that anyway & I think it's a great look in your room. Keep it for awhile & see if it grows on you. You did a fantastic job with it!

Congrats Linda too on the win!

Your firebox looks awesome. Don't change it,it's just a really dramatic change, I think you will get used to it, and like it.

I started a holiday decor project this weekend but I made a change that requires a trip to Michaels this morning.

I really like the fireplace. It reminds me of a court jester. The fireplace needed a pick-me-up and I think that your design fits in perfectly.
Love it!!

Oh I LOVE the fireplace painted. I love that Harliquin B&W pattern anyway. A lot of work you put into that. Well worth it. I would like to see more of two things tho. The painting over the firebox and that rug you have on your floor. It looks very intriguing. Congrats to the weekly winners too.

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I have absolutely no patience for such a project. I'd be complaining by the 7th tile of a cramping hand. You must have incredible patience. And might I just say, you have great taste!
