I wasn't sure where we should go for the weekend... and then I visited Life in a Venti Cup and she mentioned her dream place to live was San Diego... DING! DING! DING! We have a WINNER!... let's go to San Diego... Easy trip ... hop in my car for two hours and here we are... Dowtown San Diego...
The historical San Diego Gas Lamp Quarter area has been given a new life... filled with great restaurants, theatres, shopping, hotels, etc...
Fabulous architecture and colour...
Wonderful transportation to get you around downtown...
Pet Co stadium home of the Padres...
Balboa Park...
San Diego Zoo...
Sea World on Mission Bay...
Last time I was in San Diego...
My youngest (now 10) enjoyed petting star fish and My oldest (now 13) posed with Shamu!
Wonderful place to stay in San Diego... The Famous Hotel Del Coronado... I have yet to stay here, but I have been on the beach next to it many times...

With our kids we opted for the Bahia Resort on beautiful Mission Bay nearby dowtown San Diego... Great family area! I have fond memories of this area... as a kid my great grandparents lived on this bay and I enjoyed many days on the beach...
This family friendly resort... has a beach with no waves... and the top feature for us was the seal pool... our kids loved it and I loved the tropical gardens... and tropical drinks!
Speaking of drinks... downtown San Diego at night is a great place to wine, dine and enjoy the nightlife...
This virtual trip has made me realize I need a REAL trip to San Diego!
I leave you with the image I had planned to paint... unfortunately... I did not have the time to do it... but... it is sooooo pretty... ENJOY! See you Monday!

P.S. I totally thought of you when I posted that Mackensie-Childs bureau because of the lovely painting you did of the pink one!!
That would be wonderful to paint! I love the photo, too. We used to go to San Diego a lot when we lived in CA. I miss it.
You've done a beautiful job immortalizing San Diego! I live just 30 minutes north!
i visited san diego a few years back for just a couple of days (for the marathon)... it was so pretty!
Such great photos. I have been to San Diego on business and just loved the city. Hope you have a great weekend.
Oh how lovely the City is now. I havent been there in 20 something years to spend some time visiting it, but did go just to the museum a few years back. They have a lovely one there too.
Thanks for showing the updates. Loved my virtual trip. :))
I haven't been to San Diego in years...brought back some lovely memories! I'm looking forward to seeing which picture you borrowed!

San Diego is by far my favorite city! I've been many times, but the past time we stayed at the Hotel Del. OMG, totally worth it and you must make it top of your list!
Fifi.. hope your trip was GRAND! and can't wait to see how you paint it!! :)
Hi Fifi
I was in San Diego in September and blogged a lot about it -- I absolutely loved it there!
Your boys are too cute -- I bet they would like to go on anohter trip to see Sea World.
Great photos - especially those of your boys in younger days. You make me want to visit San Diego - we haven't been yet. I hear Legoland is fabulous too. Lecia
This makes me want to go there asap..!
Thanks for sharing..:)
Hope you had a fabulous time. SD is one of my fav places and the Coronado is one of my MOST fav hotels.. it is so magical.
Sounds like you had an absolutely gorgeous weekend. I lived in San Diego for a bit before. I always felt it was a city with a small town feel with perfect weather. It usually doesn't go over a 20 degree variant almost all year round. Lovely photos :)
Karen
If only we would have "met" a few weeks sooner! I am blessed to call San Diego home and your photos do it justice!! I am glad you were able to get away for a bit and relax in SD! Next time you are here we will need to meet up for un cafe creme!! :)
