I just mention yesterday that I would rather have an earthquake than a tornado... BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY!
There has not been any major damage reported as I sit here typing... our house shook like crazy... chandeliers swaying wildly and items did fall off of shelves... paintings all sideways... but we are all okay.
It was the most violent one I have ever felt... I yelled for my kids to get to our earthquake wall... YES... we have a few earthquake walls... when we did new construction we retro-fitted our home and earthquake walls were required to be built... we are still standing so I guess they work!
BTW... we are located approximately 12-15 miles from the center of the earthquake.

I'm so relieved to know you and your family are okay! You and your neighbors will all be in my prayers.
I am so glad to hear you are safe!
I had just left you a comment on your last post, then I saw you had this update, That is so weird bacause we just talked about this yesterday.
Oh my goodness! So glad you are okay- and that the walls worked. You'll have to explain those to us in another post (curious how a wall can be earthquake proof!!!).
Oh jeez!! I'm so glad everything is OK.
Sooooo glad you and yours are all safe. I live in central Texas were we get tornados....I've always said I'd rather have a tornado than an earthquake. I guess it all depends on what you grow up with, but neither is a good thing.
Scarry! I am so relieved to hear that you guys are ok. I bet you are a little shaken up still though, yes?
I know that was scary! Glad everyone is okay!
I'm so glad you're okay Fifi! I hope this lets a little pressure off the fault line. They used to have earthquakes so much more when I was young and it didn't seem like that big of a deal, but now that there hasn't been one in a while I'm glad it wasn't the big one.
Stay safe my friend!
hugs,
rue
So glad you and yours are alright. Scary stuff!!!!! Our NC news mentioned it tonight but it didn't show much damage...thank God!!!!!
I just heard about that on the radio.
Glad you all are ok!!!
Take care.
Oh my - I'm glad you are ok! Stay safe!
So glad you are all okay. I can only imagine how scary it must be to experience an earthquake. Be well cherie.
Oh Fifi,
I'm so glad you're all okay. I won't even say the word after the one of 1989 - that one was terrible and the aftershocks terrible too.
Bet you're still a little jumpy. Now next time, say I'd rather have an "E" than a tornado. That's what works for me (knock on wood, finger's crossed, etc.!). Glad you have those "E" walls and are safe and sound.

Oh, my gosh, I haven't had the TV on today, so I hadn't heard about the earthquake. I'm so glad you're okay! Scary. -Julia
We are a little shaky... anticipating aftershocks... but so far they have been very mild... YEA!
Saw your news on our Aussie Today Show this a.m. Glad to hear all is OK. I lived in New Zealand (AKA The Shaky Isles!) for a year & experienced a 7.4 quake. It was just so scary, so know exactly how you feel!
Millie ^_^
fifi,
Take care of yourself and your family. Do not worry about mailing to me right away as I can wait. This must have been terrifying for all.

Hey, this is scarey, so glad to hear you and your family are OK - I hope there hasn't been too much loss of life & damage generally...
I've been totally "disconnected" from world news whilst away on vacation so I'm only just finding this out...
Take care :)
When I read the NYTimes this morning I thought of you, oh.... so close to the center of the quake. Take care!
So glad to hear you are ok. You were close. I have been thru plenty and it's scary but I still wouldnt want to go thru tornados. I'd just as soon not go thru earthquakes either. :)
Hi again! Really glad you and your family are ok. When I heard the news I was thankful they reported no injuries but still wondered who in blogland that I talk to was affected and if they were ok! Glad to hear you are! Sincerely, Jeannette
