Yummy Cream Cheese, a Book and Tables

Soooo... FIRST... let's grab a table... I think this one will do... STOLEN via Creative Journeys... and made into a HANDPAINTED bookmark for My Fashionable Book Shop...

or maybe this table... I cannot remember where this inspiration came from... hmmm... let's pour some tea, café creme or even champagne...

ooooh and this table...

I know it was inspired by a painting I saw last weekend at the LACMA...
Raoul Dufy ... Still Life with Closed Shutters 1906...

Nowwwww that we have 3 FAB tables... time to nibble some Cream Cheese Pound Cake... This special Cream Cheese Pound Cake is from Geneva, the Book by Ellen Thompson Shook...

Reading is Fashionable was lucky enough to get an interview with her and fortunate enough to have her send photos and tell us the recipe...

3 sticks butter
8 oz. cream cheese
3 cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 T vanilla
6 large eggs
3 cups cake flour

To assemble: Cream in the large mixer bowl the butter, creme cheese and sugar. When fluffy, add eggs one at a time, continuing on the "Cream" setting. That is about No. 4 on some mixers. In another bowl, whisk together the cake flour and salt to aerate. Add to the mixer about 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Last, add the vanilla.
Pour into a large tube pan sprayed with Baker's Joy. Place in preheated oven and bake at 325 degrees for one and one-half hours. It may be necessary to loosely cover the top if it starts getting too brown. Test near the center with a cake tester or a nutpicker to make sure it is done. Ovens vary -- my oven today took almost two hours. (You cannot rush this.) Cool in the pan for a bit and then turn out into a cake keeper or a fancy cake stand if you are making a company presentation. This cake freezes well. This was one of my mother's go-to recipes, and whenever someone needed a cake, she could turn this one out blindfolded! It is a wonderful pound cake.

Now that you have been introduced to this lovely dessert...
it's time for you to pop over to Reading is Fashionable...
