Outdoor Flower Series

Fifi has decided to start a NEW series for Outdoor Wednesday postings... oui oui oui... Fifi will be posting FLOWERS throughout the year... the idea came to moi after sorting through books... finding a book titled "The Meaning of Flowers" by Gretchen Scoble & Ann Field... it was a FAB gift from someone... wish I knew who... the giver did NOT write a little something in the book... NOTE to ANYONE buying a book as a gift... WRITE a little something... sign it and date it aussi!!!  Anyway... I will be using this book for inspiration...
Today I will start with my first flower... or I should say BLOSSOM that is NOT in the book...
but I saw it in my garden and could NOT resist snapping a photo of it...  these are on my Apricot tree and some day they will be delicious fruit...ooh la la...
Here is some history via Wikipedia... The apricot was known in Armenia during ancient times, and has been cultivated there for so long it is often thought to be native there. However, the Vavilov center of origin locates the origin of the apricot's domestication in the Chinese region, and other sources say the apricot was first cultivated in India in about 3000 BC. Turkey (Malatya region) is the leading apricot producer.
Another tidbit via Wikipedia...  In Europe, apricots were long considered an aphrodisiac, and were used in this context in William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and as an inducer of childbirth, as depicted in John Webster's The Duchess of Malfi ...
Hope you ENJOY this first FLOWER SERIES installment complete with an ORIGINAL Fifi Flowers painting of course... painting is AVAILABLE!!!
