The "BIG" event... I can't believe the day has arrived... GIRLS NIGHT OUT to the Opening of Sex and the City the Movie... starting of course with cosmos... and ending with cosmos... good thing my hubby has volunteered to drop us off and pick us up... like being a teenager again but legal to drink! Don't forget to wear something FUN and a GREAT pair of shoes...

Thanks to designers who have a love of Manolo and a desire to cloth those who have a smaller budget for shoes... I can wear what I like to call "Fauxnolos"
IMPORTANT to be viewing Sex and the City the Movie in style!

Blank Canvas to Modern Hip Chic

In celebration of the Opening of Sex and the City the Movie... I give you the Modern Chic Girl Condo designed for an entertainment industry professional by Fifi Flowers Design...

Instructions for the Project... First, design around this piece of furniture... Second, complete project within a week time frame... Third, stick to $1000 budget (time compensation was worked out in a VERY good trade)... Fourth, and most importantly, make it fit the client's personality... " a modern, smart, trendy, confident, romantic, Latina version of Carrie on Sex in the City"... Starting with her blank canvas...

Living room area canvas comes to life!

Adjacent Dining area complete with minimalistic lighting is transformed....

Acrossing the dining area... colour and art work (framed on rasberry smoothie wall) is added to the galley kitchen...

AND... The Grand Finale to the Project...

Original art work to complete the space and reflect the client's personality... the only thing missing from the painting is a cosmo in her hand!

Two Blogs into ONE...

Painting du Jour will become a daily part of Fifi Flowers Design Decor...When I began blogging in April 2008... my Painting du Jour blog was my main focus... however... many of my Interior Design clients asked me to blog about decorating... sooooo... I started this blog "Fifi Flowers Design Decor." Wellllllllllllllllllll... it's just too much for me to maintain two blogs... so as of TODAY Painting du Jour and Fifi Flowers Design Decor will become ONE!

Classic Style for a Tiny Condo...

White bedding... lovely... but not with the residents in my home...
I want my office to look like this... yet... I fear it never will... a girl can dream of no clutter... maybe if I change profession I won't need so much stuff and I can have this look... hmmmm... what profession would keep an office looking like this... Any ideas????
my cluttered desk area... NOW, you see why I long for that perfect area... please tell me I'm not alone in this mess... there are others like me with this "stylish look" correct???

Holidays over... time for new plans...

Newsflash... just in... I've found the right house plan courtesy of Annechovie... I was popping around sites this morning... good morning to Annechovie... oh let's see what this talent woman is up to today... WOW... something new... she's not only dazzling... now she's zazzling as well!

Home plans are from HGTV ... I'm leaning toward the beach house myself... I know we just had a long weekend... but some times... you need a vacation after a vacation!

Bright Orange Flower

Over the Holiday weekend I finally was able to read my May Domino magazine... the article "A Tricolor Decor" highlighting Josephine Sasso's Nantucket vacation home inspired this painting.

Fun Catalog Cover from CB2...

Happy Memorial Weekend...

After viewing this catalog, I've decided to take the weekend off... I'm going shopping to find that bathing cap, first of all... then I'm going to read the 2 books (Sophie Kinsella's Remember Me & Jennifer Weiner's Certain Girls) that I bought a month ago... and I think I will find out where this gathering in the catalog is taking place and crash it... Looks like FUN... let's party! See you after the holiday!

Lovely to have works of art in your home...

My favorite artist Henri Matisse... the originals are not affordable or available... so I painted them. These are my reproductions of his wonderful work that are displayed throughout my home... These two ladies reproduced from Matisse's "Tea" 1919 reside in my tiny studio loft within my home... they are always watching over me and I am always wishing I was sitting with them... although I must say I'm not a tea fan... so if they were to invite me over... I would hope they would break out something with a little kick... or bubbles... I've actually thought of adding a couple champagne flutes to the painting! The original painting is on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art... yes, I have visited it on many occasions... love it!
This reproduction of Matisse's "Anemones in a Vase" 1943 is displayed over a custom built-in craftsman style bookcase in the music room... center stage! I'm not sure where the original painting is housed... if anyone knows... chime in!
This reproduction of Matisse's "Goldfish" 1911 is resting on an easel in my master bedroom. I viewed the original of this painting and the next painting for the first time at the LACMA "Impressionist to Early Modern Paintings from the USSR"
This reproduction of Matisse's "Nasturtiums with 'La Danse' "1912 is in my music room... what used to be my living room before our major construction project
This reproduction is Matisse's "Calla Lilies, Irises and Mimosas"1913 part of his Morocco travels... this is in my red dining room. I was lucky enough to make a pilgrimage to MOMA in NYC to the Henri Matisse - A Retrospective exhibit... OUTSTANDING! This painting was part of the exhibit as was the next painting and along with two that were part of the USSR exhibit. This was my first reproduction... Matisse's "Interior with a Goldfish Bowl" 1914 is the view of quai Saint-Michel ... it is in my dining room also. I have reproduced more paintings by Henri Matisse as gifts to friends and family. I've been told on several occasions that my work looks like it is influenced by Matisse... I would have to say YES!!! (my mother thinks I am Matisse reincarnated... lol!)
